Softball Recap: Holcomb Longhorns vs. Colby Eagles

Holcomb had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over the Colby Eagles on Thursday. Holcomb's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Korryn Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts every time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Emma Cornelsen was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Morgan Buchholz was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing three bases.

Holcomb's victory bumped their record up to 23-0. As for Colby, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

Holcomb will square off against Cimarron at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holcomb is looking to tack on another W to their 16-game streak on the road dating back to last season. Colby does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
