Volleyball Recap: Western Wayne Wildcats vs. Dunmore Bucks
If Western Wayne was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of West Scranton on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell just short of the Dunmore Bucks by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bucks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Western Wayne actually scored more points across those five sets (100-90), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-17, 11-25, 25-21, 15-12.

Despite the loss, Western Wayne saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abbie Washine had 28 assists and six digs. Those 28 assists set a new season-high mark for Washine.
Among those leading the charge was Elena Piepoli, who had 17 digs and three assists. Those three assists gave her a new career-high.
Western Wayne moved to 6-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Dunmore, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-4-1.
