Recap: South Bend St. Joseph Indians vs. Lowell Red Devils
The South Bend St. Joseph Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Lowell at home by a decisive 37-21 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to South Bend St. Joseph of the 54-30 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Kenadie Schrock and Kayla Woods certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Schrock scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Woods scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and five steals. That was a full 38.1% of South Bend St. Joseph's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Lowell can attribute much of their success to Elysia Laub, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirstin Summers, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
South Bend St. Joseph's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-15. As for Lowell, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9.
South Bend St. Joseph will square off against Lighthouse College Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lowell, they will be playing at home against Merrillville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Merrillville is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
