Baseball Game Preview: Carlisle Chiefs vs. Hargrave Military Academy Tigers

Carlisle is 9-1 against Hargrave Military Academy since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Chiefs will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Carlisle is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Virginia Episcopal School on Wednesday. They lost 7-1 to the Bishops. The Chiefs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Casey Thomas was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Hargrave Military Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against The Covenant, falling 11-3.

Hargrave Military Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grady Upchurch, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Carlisle's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Hargrave Military Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
