Basketball Recap: West Jefferson Falls Despite Big Games from Monica Jeune and Savannah Washington

West Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. The contest between them and the East Jefferson Warriors didn't end well, with the West Jefferson Buccaneers falling 48-32. The Buccaneers were down 44-15 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

West Jefferson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Savannah Washington, who posted 11 points, and Monica Jeune, who earned four points. MacKenzie Nickerson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

West Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for East Jefferson, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-12.

West Jefferson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-25 loss against Riverdale on the 6th. East Jefferson has also already played their next game (against Benjamin Franklin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
