Basketball Game Preview: Tascosa Rebels vs. Amarillo Sandies

Tascosa is 0-10 against Amarillo since December of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Tascosa Rebels will head out on the road to challenge the Amarillo Sandies at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Tascosa beat Monterey 57-51. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Plainsmen are ranked 580th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Amarillo over Lubbock in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Amarillo blew Lubbock out of the water with a 60-23 final score. The Sandies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Amarillo is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for Tascosa, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Tascosa couldn't quite finish off Amarillo when the teams last played back in November and fell 44-41. Can Tascosa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
