Soccer Recap: Berkeley Prep Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

With a playoff win on the line, Berkeley Prep rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They never let the Fort Meade Miners onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Miners are ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Johnathan Poisson was the driving force of Berkeley Prep's attack as he scored both of Berkeley Prep's goals, bringing his season total up to eight goals.

Berkeley Prep's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Fort Meade, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.

Looking ahead, Berkeley Prep will challenge Tampa Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tampa Prep will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more goals each match than the last. Fort Meade does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
