Basketball Recap: Jekhyra Rodgers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Collierville over Hoover

The Collierville Dragons were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 63-58 to the Hoover Buccaneers. The contest marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jekhyra Rodgers, who went 5-for-10 en route to 15 points and six assists. Rodgers is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. Fran Kelly was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Collierville's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Hoover, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Collierville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-40 victory against Briarcrest Christian on the 2nd. As for Hoover, they have also already played their next matchup, a 68-23 win against Chelsea on the 2nd.
