Basketball Recap: Animas Comes Up Short

Animas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 47-27 to Fort Sumner/House. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Fort Sumner/House are ranked 27th).

Laikyn Davenport was Animas' leading scorer, having posted 13 points. Journey Sheehan held things down on the boards with nine rebounds.

Animas' loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Fort Sumner/House, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.

Animas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 39-20 win against Alamo Navajo on the 17th. As for Fort Sumner/House, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 47-37 victory against Quemado on the 17th.
