The Clover Hill Cavaliers will square off against the Cosby Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Clover Hill barely beat Monacan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Clover Hill blew past Monacan 17-7 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.
Brianna Miller made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Miller was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cayla Wright, who went 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Kristyn Niles, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Cosby had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on Powhatan with a sharp 9-2 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Titans have posted against the Indians since May 27, 2021.
Like Clover Hill, Cosby also got a great game from a two-way player: Kam Brown. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Cosby let Jill Bossler and Kammie Walter run wild. Bossler scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Walter scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Camryn Shaver was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Cosby hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Powhatan struck out 11 times.
Clover Hill suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Cosby in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Clover Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
