Soccer Recap: Portland Comes Up Short

Despite a strong season so far, Portland has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They came up short against the Station Camp Bison on Thursday, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, Portland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Station Camp are ranked 15th).

Portland's goal came courtesy of Jose Juan Alonzo, who's now up to two this season.

Portland's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-3-2. As for Station Camp, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, Portland and Station Camp will both be playing Macon County the next time they take the pitch. The Bison will host the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
