Softball Game Preview: Belvidere North Blue Thunder vs. Harlem Huskies

The Belvidere North Blue Thunder are taking a road trip to take on the Harlem Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Belvidere North is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Belvidere North's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Guilford.

Avery Benzel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

Benzel wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ava Morris, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Harlem came out on top against Woodstock North on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Huskies walked away with an 8-5 win over the Thunder.

Belvidere North's record now sits at 10-6. As for Harlem, their record is now 14-5.

Belvidere North got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Harlem by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Thunder since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
