Recap: O'Connor Panthers vs. Holmes Huskies
The O'Connor Panthers entered their tilt with the Holmes Huskies with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. O'Connor took down Holmes 45-28 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as O'Connor also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
O'Connor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Valdez, who picked up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Valdez is on a roll when it comes to receiving yards, as he's now posted 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Martinez, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Another reason for the win was O'Connor's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Mateo Carrizales and his two sacks.
Despite the loss, Holmes saw an underclassman step up: Jayden Hopkins picked up 147 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Isaac Martinez, who threw for 311 yards and a touchdown.
O'Connor's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Holmes, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
O'Connor does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Holmes also has no future games currently scheduled.
