Football Recap: Clarke's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Clarke took a 48-point defeat the last time they faced off against Wantagh, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Warriors 36-34. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Rams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Warriors are ranked 67th).

Joe Nicholson and Luke Martini certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Nicholson gained 192 total yards and three touchdowns, while Martini gained 217 total yards and a touchdown. Martini is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 175 every time he's taken the field this season.

The win (which was Clarke's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points over those games. As for Wantagh, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Clarke will take on Valley Stream South on Saturday. As for Wantagh, they will challenge South Side at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
