Softball Recap: Ellis Comes Up Short at Home Against Colby

Ellis unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Colby Eagles by a score of 11-10 on Tuesday.

Rylan Aschenbrenner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Maleah Vine was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Even though they lost, Ellis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Colby has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ellis will welcome Larned at 4:00 p.m. on April 4. As for Colby, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Liberal at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
