Baseball Game Preview: Marshall Academy Patriots vs. West Union Eagles

The Marshall Academy Patriots are taking a road trip to face off against the West Union Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Marshall Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Marshall Academy managed to slip by North Delta the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Patriots lost 13-2 to the Green Wave on Tuesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Patriots, who until this match were averaging 3.88 runs allowed.

Marshall Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Collin Woods, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, West Union got themselves on the board against Houston on Thursday, but Houston never followed suit. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hilltoppers, sneaking past 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since February 27th.

West Union is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Marshall Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-9.
