Baseball Game Preview: La Vernia Bears vs. John F. Kennedy Rockets

For the second straight game, La Vernia will face off against John F. Kennedy. The Bears will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Rockets at 7:00 p.m. La Vernia is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

La Vernia had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt John F. Kennedy on Friday. The Bears blew past the Rockets 18-1. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Bronson Lange made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Kinzel, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brennan Little, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

La Vernia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John F. Kennedy only posted an OBP of .176.

La Vernia pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for John F. Kennedy, they moved to 10-11 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
