Baseball Game Preview: Menlo School Knights vs. Sacred Heart Prep Gators

Menlo School hasn't had much luck against Sacred Heart Prep recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Menlo School will welcome Sacred Heart Prep at 4:00 p.m. Sacred Heart Prep took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Menlo School, who comes in off a win.

Menlo School took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against San Mateo by a score of 4-1.

Ben Salama made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Freehill, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart Prep fell victim to Menlo-Atherton and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Bears, falling 9-0. The loss continues a trend for the Gators in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost four in a row.

Sacred Heart Prep also got a good showing from Kyle Sweeney, who struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Sweeney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Menlo School's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Sacred Heart Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Menlo School couldn't quite finish off Sacred Heart Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can Menlo School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
