Basketball Game Preview: Alcott Wildcats vs. Mather Rangers

The Alcott Wildcats will challenge the Mather Rangers at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Alcott was beaten by Lycee Francais de Chicago 77-43.

Meanwhile, Mather came up short against North Shore Country Day on Saturday and fell 58-48. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 590th, while the Raiders are ranked 268th).

This is the second loss in a row for Mather and nudges their season record down to 6-9. As for Alcott, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Alcott came up short against Mather when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 44-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mather's Jeremiah Chalwe, who posted 20 points. Now that Alcott knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
