Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot comes up short despite Charlie Potter's dominant performance

Recap: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights vs. Brunswick Academy Vikings

The Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights lost against the Brunswick Academy Vikings back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot took a hard 54-36 fall against Brunswick Academy. While losing is never fun, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while Brunswick Academy is ranked 158th).

When it comes to explaining why Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot lost, one person who can't be blamed is Charlie Potter. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Potter scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Hickey, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brunswick Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emily King, who scored 19 points. King has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Corum, who scored 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot and nudges their season record down to 6-11. As for Brunswick Academy, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot will square off against Kenston Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brunswick Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Tidewater Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Tidewater Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last six games.
