Softball Recap: Webster County Comes Up Short

Webster County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-8. They came up short against the Gilmer County Titans, falling 19-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Tuesday.

As for Gilmer County, they pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

For Gilmer County's part, the team relied heavily on Paige Montgomery, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Montgomery has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Wells, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Coming up, Webster County is taking a road trip to challenge Greater Beckley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gilmer County, they will challenge Ritchie County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rebels' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
