Falls Lake is a perfect 10-0 against Franklin Academy since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Firebirds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Wednesday, Falls Lake was able to grind out a solid win over American Leadership Academy-Johnston, taking the game 9-5. The victory continues a trend for the Firebirds in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won three in a row.

Wynterlee Glenn was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jolie Sensenig, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Leah Horton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.
Meanwhile, Franklin Academy came into Monday's contest having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Cary Academy 12-2 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Patriots needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Hannah Pegram spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.
At the plate, Franklin Academy let Caitlyn Chapman and Nicole Melvin run wild. Chapman got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Melvin got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Shriver, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Franklin Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The win got Falls Lake back to even at 9-9. As for Franklin Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-11.
Falls Lake took their win against Franklin Academy in their previous matchup on April 8th by a conclusive 14-3 score. Do the Firebirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
