Football Game Preview: Memorial Warriors vs. Lovejoy Leopards + How To Watch

Memorial hasn't had much luck against Lovejoy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Warriors will take on the Leopards at 7:30 p.m. Memorial has given up an average of 41.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Memorial came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by Anna and fell 56-7. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 511th, while the Coyotes are ranked 55th).

Even if they lost, Memorial's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Hunter Metcalf refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Memorial got some further help from Doug McCloud: he picked up a sack and made 16 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Lovejoy earned a 35-28 win over Denison on Friday. The Leopards haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Lovejoy's win came from a few key players Memorial will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Luke Gahan, who rushed for 126 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 63 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Zach Jones also helped out as he racked up 103 rushing yards.

Lovejoy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Memorial was taken down by Lovejoy 63-0 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Warriors, Ben Adams (who rushed for 169 yards and two TDs on only 13 carries, and also picked up 30 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
