Milford hasn't had much luck against Taunton recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Scarlet Hawks will welcome the Tigers at 4:30 p.m.
Milford came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Franklin, falling 15-2.
Milford saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Marcolini, who went 3-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, Taunton came tearing into Monday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Warriors.
Cameron Tomaszycki was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Tomaszycki was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Joseph Benoit was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Cam Dorr was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Taunton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as King Philip Regional only posted a batting average of .219.
Taunton pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Milford, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
