Basketball Recap: Melia Hincherick Key Part of a Team Effort in Wildcats Win

Wilmington hadn't done well against Peotone recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wilmington Wildcats came out on top against the Peotone Blue Devils by a score of 37-24. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Wilmington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Melia Hincherick, who made all 7 shots she took for 17 points and five rebounds. Hincherick continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sami Liaromatis, who posted five points along with five boards and five steals.

Wilmington's win bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Peotone, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-21.

Wilmington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 45-21 loss against Morris on the 8th. As for Peotone, they will challenge Herscher at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
