Defiance has gone 7-1 against Elida recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Defiance will welcome Elida at 5:30 p.m. Defiance will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Defiance barely beat Central Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs never let the Fighting Irish get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Bulldogs have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Garyson Smiddy tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Cody Shaw was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Gomez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Elida fell 6-2 to Celina. The loss continues a trend for Elida in their meetings with Celina: they've now lost five in a row.
Elida saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Miley, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double was Miley's first of the season.
Defiance's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Elida, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Defiance has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Elida struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Defiance beat Elida 4-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Does Defiance have another victory up their sleeve, or will Elida turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
