Basketball Recap: St. John's Wins Going Away Against Fairfax Christian

On Friday, the St. John's Cadets didn't have too much trouble with the Fairfax Christian Cardinals as they won 64-50. The Cadets pushed the score to 57-36 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cardinals cut but never quite recovered from.

Fairfax Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Messiah Dixon and Frank Siaca Bey. Dixon went 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points along with seven steals and six assists, while Siaca Bey went 8 of 13 to rack up 18 points and seven rebounds. That's the most steals Dixon has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Willie Bennett, who had six points.

St. John's is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.3 points over those games. As for Fairfax Christian, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-11.

Looking ahead, St. John's will take on Bishop Ireton at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Ireton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully St. John's likes a good challenge. Fairfax Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
