Softball Recap: Lancaster Flying Arrows vs. Highland Cardinals
Lancaster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of the Highland Cardinals by a score of 5-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Lancaster of the 9-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.
Abi Mergen and Emma Jensen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mergen went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run, while Jensen scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Lancaster's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Highland, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lancaster will square off against Prairie du Chien at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Highland, they will head out on the road to challenge Barneveld at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
