Softball Recap: Forrest City Mustangs vs. Trumann Wildcats
Forrest City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell victim to a rough 18-1 loss at the hands of the Trumann Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Forrest City of the 20-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
For Trumann's part, Faith Muntz made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Muntz has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Muntz was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Macey Powell was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Ellisabeth Holladay was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Forrest City's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Trumann, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.
