Basketball Recap: West Point-Beemer Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, West Point-Beemer rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They slipped by the Clarkson/Leigh Patriots 38-37. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 49-33 back in December of 2024.

West Point-Beemer's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allie Kaup, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds. Kaup is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Hunke, who scored seven points and 11 boards.

Clarkson/Leigh's loss came despite strong showings from Ava Kasik and Brynn Settje. Kasik went 7-for-12 to rack up 15 points, while Settje had eight points and five steals. Settje is becoming a predictor of Clarkson/Leigh's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 9-2 (and 4-10 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Settje, who earned seven points and seven rebounds.

West Point-Beemer's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Clarkson/Leigh, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-12.

West Point-Beemer has already played their next match, a 54-42 loss against North Bend Central on the 20th. Clarkson/Leigh does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
