Recap: Barnwell Warhorses vs. Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars
The Barnwell Warhorses lost against the Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Barnwell was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 35-34 to Ridgeland-Hardeeville. Barnwell has struggled against Ridgeland-Hardeeville recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Barnwell saw an underclassman step up: Vashahd Scofield scored 16 points. Jayden Pickney was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Poncie Capers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ridgeland-Hardeeville, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Capers pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Malik Aquamina, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Barnwell has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Ridgeland-Hardeeville, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
Barnwell will head out on the road to square off against Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Barnwell in South Carolina (Woodland is ranked 51st, while Barnwell is ranked 252nd). As for Ridgeland-Hardeeville, they will be playing at home against Edisto at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Edisto is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
