Basketball Game Preview: Middletown Mustangs vs. Weed Cougars

The Middletown Mustangs will square off against the Weed Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Middletown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They snuck past Windsor with a 55-50 win.

Middletown's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Bowerman, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. That's the most points Bowerman has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bodhi Moore, who had 16 points and seven rebounds.

Middletown was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Weed entered their tilt with Portola on Saturday with 17 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 18. They took down the Tigers 73-54. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Tigers are ranked 612th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Weed's win bumped their record up to 24-6. As for Middletown, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season.
