Basketball Recap: Wilson Taylor's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Clarke County over Madison County

Clarke County was the 53-37 winner over Madison County when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Clarke County Eagles took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Madison County Mountaineers. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wilson Taylor, who posted ten points. Lincoln Booker was another key player, putting up ten points.

Leading Madison County to victory were Isaiah Jones and Lahman Carpenter. Jones went 8 for 14 to rack up 18 points, while Carpenter almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Humphrey, who had seven points and three steals.

Clarke County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Madison County, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-15.

Coming up, Clarke County will welcome Stonewall Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clarke County is facing Stonewall Jackson at the right time seeing as Stonewall Jackson is stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for Madison County, they will venture away from home to square off against Rappahannock County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
