Austin came into Friday's contest looking for another win against James Clemens, but Mj Gideon wouldn't allow it. The Jets skirted past the Black Bears 33-31 for which the team can thank Gideon, who rushed for 216 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 50 yards.

Austin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Qadir Lyle, who rushed for 95 yards and one score on only six carries, and also threw for 191 yards and one TD. Aidan Davis was in the mix too, providing the Black Bears with two touchdowns.

The victory made it two in a row for James Clemens and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.0 points over those games. As for Austin, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.
