Softball Recap: Smithfield-Selma Takes a Loss

Smithfield-Selma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 15-0 to the West Johnston Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 23-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Smithfield-Selma's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for West Johnston, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Smithfield-Selma will take on rival Southern Wayne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West Johnston is set to square off against their familiar foe C.B. Aycock at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
