Baseball Recap: Mingo Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against Phelps on Thursday, Mingo Central came back down to earth. The Miners fell just short of the Tug Valley Panthers by a score of 8-7 on Friday. The Miners were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Mingo Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Blankenship, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Ryan Fabin was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Mingo Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Tug Valley, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-9.

Coming up, Mingo Central will welcome Bluefield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Miners are facing the Beavers at the right time seeing as the Beavers are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Tug Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Teays Valley Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
