Basketball Game Preview: Elgin Maroons vs. South Elgin Storm

Elgin hasn't had much luck against South Elgin recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Elgin Maroons will challenge the South Elgin Storm at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Elgin is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 63-36 defeat at the hands of Plainfield South. While losing is never fun, the Maroons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 676th, while the Cougars are ranked 150th).

Meanwhile, South Elgin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 56-35 to DeKalb.

Elgin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-28. As for South Elgin, their loss dropped their record down to 8-23.

Things could have been worse for Elgin, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 41-27 loss to South Elgin in their previous meeting back in January. Can Elgin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
