Soccer Game Preview: Winters vs. Pioneer

The Winters Warriors will take on the Pioneer Patriots in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Winters came up short against Woodland on Tuesday, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 535th, while Wolves are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Pioneer was not quite Grant's equal in the second half on Thursday. They fell just short of the Pacers by a score of 2-1.

Pioneer now has a losing record at 1-2-1. As for Winters, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2-1.
