Softball Recap: Shea Raiders vs. Rogers Vikings
If Shea was riding high fresh off their 13-1 takedown of Times Squared Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Raiders lost 12-2 to the Rogers Vikings on Thursday. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Laurel Christian was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season.
Shea dropped their record down to 4-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Rogers, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-5.
Coming up, Shea will square off against Paul Cuffee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Paul Cuffee has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.27 runs per game on average), something Shea will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rogers, they will face off against Narragansett at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Mariners have now posted at least ten runs in their last seven matchups.
