Basketball Recap: Benedictine Extends Winning Streak to Five

Benedictine had won four straight games and Caleb Jones did his part to make it five on Tuesday. The Benedictine Cadets strolled past the Hilton Head Island Seahawks with points to spare, taking the game 65-50 thanks in part to Jones, who went 12 of 20 on his way to 30 points and seven rebounds. The game was his 30th in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ejay Washington, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 12 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Hilton Head Island's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reece Stewart, who posted 13 points. Stewart is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kyrice Bowman, who had 12 points.

Benedictine pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hilton Head Island, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Benedictine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-46 win against Hilton Head Island on the 14th. As for Hilton Head Island, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 71-66 defeat against Brunswick on the 13th.
