Basketball Recap: Gaithersburg Takes a Loss

Gaithersburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 53-37 bruising from the Sherwood Warriors. The Trojans were down 47-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Sherwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avery Graham, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Graham is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Anderson, who posted seven points along with 15 rebounds and five assists.

Gaithersburg's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Sherwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Gaithersburg has already played their next contest (against Poolesville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sherwood will square off against Wootton at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Sherwood will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
