Softball Recap: Southwest Christian School Picks Up 13th Straight Win at Home

Southwest Christian School entered their tilt with Grapevine Faith Christian on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 7-2. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Evan Smith made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Smith was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Karis Jones and Addison Davidson did most of the damage at the plate: Jones scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Davidson scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Rachel Swenson, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Southwest Christian School hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.

Southwest Christian School pushed their record up to 17-5-1 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Southwest Christian School will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
