Soccer Game Preview: Hilo vs. Waiakea

For the first time this season, Hilo will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Waiakea Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.

Hilo is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Kealakehe on Friday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, Waiakea had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over the Dragons. The result was nothing new for Waiakea, who have now won four matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Hilo's draw gives them a new season record of 2-1-1. As for Waiakea, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1-1.

Hilo couldn't quite get it done against Waiakea in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 as they fell 4-2. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
