Volleyball Recap: Basalt Takes a Loss

Basalt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Aspen Skiers, falling 3-0. The Longhorns were not able to make up for their loss to the Skiers from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

While Basalt was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Aspen's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 25-23.

Tahlia Ferguson paced Basalt's offense, picking up five kills. Ferguson got some help from Lilly Archibeque and her 15 assists. Lily Fitzgerald controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Basalt's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Aspen, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Basalt will square off against rival Moffat County at 6:00 p.m. on October 2. Meanwhile, Aspen is set to challenge their familiar foe Roaring Fork at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
