Preview: Stewart County Royal Knights vs. Chattahoochee County Panthers

Stewart County and Chattahoochee County are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Stewart County Royal Knights will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Chattahoochee County Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Even though Chattahoochee County has not done well against Calhoun County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Chattahoochee County took down Calhoun County 44-25. Given Chattahoochee County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while Calhoun County is ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chattahoochee County found their leader in underclassman Kamiyah Brown , who scored eight points along with three steals and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Ke'Asia Hardwick, who scored nine points.

Stewart County pushed their record up to 5-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Chattahoochee County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Stewart County was dealt a bruising 61-15 loss at the hands of Chattahoochee County in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Stewart County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
