Football Recap: Juneau-Douglas Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Juneau-Douglas faced West Anchorage in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Crimson Bears were dealt a 44-8 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. The Crimson Bears haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Baylor Wasson was a one-man wrecking crew For West Anchorage. as he threw for 305 yards and four TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score. Those four passing touchdowns gave Wasson a new career-high. David Sanders was another key player, picking up 133 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Juneau-Douglas' loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for West Anchorage, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Juneau-Douglas will square off against South Anchorage at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines' defense has only allowed 13.9 points per game this season, so the Crimson Bears' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for West Anchorage, they will face off against Colony at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
