Basketball Recap: Wings Academy Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Wings Academy and Eagle Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Wings Academy had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 76-62 to the Eagle Academy Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Wings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Eagles are ranked sixth).

Despite the loss, Wings Academy still got an impressive performance from Emmanuel Nieves, who went 7-for-15 to rack up 21 points. Those 21 points gave Nieves a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rushawn Greene, who posted 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Wings Academy dropped their record down to 12-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Eagle Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-3.

As of now, neither Wings Academy nor Eagle Academy have any future games scheduled.
