Basketball Game Preview: Evansville Central Bears vs. Heritage Hills Patriots

The Evansville Central Bears will venture away from home to face off against the Heritage Hills Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evansville Central will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

If Heritage Hills heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Evansville Central took over last week. Evansville Central snuck past Parke Heritage with a 54-49 victory on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Heritage Hills lost to Southridge on the road by a 51-36 margin on Friday. The game marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Evansville Central will need focus on slowing down Tait Wetzel, one of several Heritage Hills players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Heritage Hills is 6-3 when Wetzel posts eight or more boards, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Peyton Gray, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Heritage Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Evansville Central's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Heritage Hills, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-5.

Evansville Central was taken down by Heritage Hills 89-59 in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Can Evansville Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
