Baseball Recap: Plant City Raiders vs. Lennard Longhorns

Plant City and Lennard squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Plant City had to settle for second. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-3 to the Lennard Longhorns, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Plant City just can't catch a break and has now endured six losses in a row.

Plant City got a good showing from Jake Carbaugh, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Lane Baxter made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Pellicer, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

On Lennard's side, Zack Bird tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Matthew Counts was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Rj Torres was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Plant City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Lennard, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.

Plant City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lennard, they will face off against Palmetto at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The pair have allowed few runs on average, (Palmetto: 3.7, Lennard: 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
