Softball Game Preview: Indian Creek Braves vs. Whiteland Warriors

The Indian Creek Braves will take on the Whiteland Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Indian Creek comes in on five and Whiteland on six.

Indian Creek is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: West Vigo, who was ranked 11th at the time (Indian Creek was ranked 21st). The Braves' pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 3-0 shutout on Wednesday.

The result came thanks to Delaney Jones's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kristen Soots, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Whiteland and Martinsville, and Whiteland kept the tradition alive. The Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Artesians on Wednesday, sneaking past 1-0.

Whiteland's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Indian Creek, their record now sits at 8-2.

Indian Creek took their victory against Whiteland in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-5 score. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
